Federal Budget Must Not Include Harmful "Policy Riders"

Policies Harming Americans' Safety and Weakening Accountability Have Been Inserted Into Budget Proposals
Ben Somberg

Washington, DCLinda Lipsen, CEO of the American Association for Justice (AAJ) issued the following statement on Congress’s development of the annual federal budget:

“Big corporations are pushing Congress to use the federal budget to undo laws that protect our safety and ensure accountability. They hope they can block popular safeguards by sneaking ideological policy riders into must-pass funding legislation.

Members of Congress should reject provisions that weaken consumer protection, public safety, and citizen’s ability to hold wrongdoers accountable, period.”

The American Association for Justice works to preserve the constitutional right to trial by jury and to make sure people have a fair chance to receive justice through the legal system when they are injured by the negligence or misconduct of others—even when it means taking on the most powerful corporations. Visit http://www.justice.org
